I have worked a journalist and as a magazine editor, working first for a management magazine and then later for a travel magazine. I traveled overseas on many assignments. For the management magazine, I wrote stories about successful businessmen and multinational corporations, and for the travel magazine, I wrote about package tours and East African safaris.
While working for the management magazine, I published my novel with Oxford University Press called ”The Courage To Dream” at the age of 27.
I have also studied numerous forms of writing, going to workshops, reading books about it, and taking writing courses.
The two most memorable courses were from the Writer’s Digest University and the American Writers and Artists Institute.
Writer’s Digest University offered a course on writing a novel. It taught me everything about how to create theme, characterization, plot, point of view, setting, and dialogue.
American Writers and Artists Institute offered courses in copywriting and a course in resume writing.
I learned copywriting, the art of “salesmanship in print,” from some of the best copywriters on the planet–people like Paul Hollingshead, Don Mahoney, Kieran Doherty, and, of course, Michael Masterson.
And I learned resume writing from a number of teachers, including Julien Sharp, a highly acclaimed teacher in the field.

I have worked as a writer for the past 25 years, a psychotherapist for 10 years, and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for 7 years. During the years I worked as a psychologist and as an I.T. person, I used to moonlight as a magazine freelancer.
